The Retirement Cabin Cake

This cake was a request, for a replica of a retiree's cabin for their celebration. I was given two photos, and made the cabin out of cake. This was a white cake, on top of a berry cake, with fondant, royal icing, and sugar glass details.

Sean's 8th Grade Graduation Cake

My brother-in-law finished his last day of Junior High - and wanted a cake to celebrate. He was on the track team, so I made a cake of "him" running on a track. He loved it! This was a straight down the middle split - left side was chocolate cake, the right side was vanilla cake. Buttercream icing, with royal icing runner.

The 25th Anniversary Cake
I made this cake for a family friend - for her parent's 25th anniversary, as a surprise. This was (from the bottom up:) a chocolate cake, lemon/orange cake, strawberry/chocolate cake, yellow/strawberry cake, and strawberry cake, with buttercream frosting.

The Wildcats Cake
As a surprise for her class, my brother-in-law's teacher ordered a cake for their last day of school. This was a chocolate/vanilla cake, with buttercream frosting. I made an extra cake to see what the inside came out as. (Bottom picture.)

The Spontaneous Cake

While making the Memorial Day cake, we had maintenance replacing our refrigerator - and he noticed the cake. He got talking with my husband, who showed him some pictures, and then he ordered a cake to come pick up the next day - a plain yellow cake, with chocolate frosting.

The Memorial Day Cake

My brother-in-law's teacher contacted me about making her a cake, after she had heard stories from him all year long about all the cakes I had made so far. I was more than happy to accomodate! This was a yellow cake, with raspberry pie filling, and buttercream frosting. Mmm mm!

The Rainbow Cake
A mother contacted me concerning her daughter's second birthday cake, and sent me pictures of an outfit she made for her - and requested a rainbow cake to go with the theme. She also wanted a penguin on there, because her daughter loved her little stuffed penguin - so I had the little guy hold the message, and the whole cake was colored to be a rainbow. This was a white cake, and buttercream frosting, and a fondant penguin. I loved how colorful it turned out!

The Ferris Wheel "Cake"

This was for a friend's son, who was turning three and wanted a Batman cake - but later pointed to a rice-krispies-treat "cake" in a magazine, saying that's what he wanted. So his mom told me it would be awesome if I could make the ferris wheel cake, since the theme was a carnival, but if I could sneak Batman onto the cake in some way, it would make the day. And it's true! Batman was his favorite part of the cake. This was a rice krispies cake, with various candy details and buttercream frosting.

Monique Baby Shower

This was another cake for a baby shower my friend was planning for someone at church. The mother-to-be was very open to ideas, and her only requirement was blue and brown, with strawberries inside. It was a huge hit! This was a white cake with chopped up strawberries in the cake, with a fresh strawberry filling, buttercream frosting, and fondant details.

The Great Cake

This was a birthday cake for my husband's grandmother, who we have come to call "Great" - because that's what our children call her instead of "great-grandmother". She loves daisies, so we tried to make a cake that centered around daisies. I had Rick's cousin Danny over to try and teach him a little about making cakes - so he made a few daisies for the cake. I guess in the future he wants to stick to baking!!! (Fine with me!) This was a chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting and royal icing details.

The Visiting Cakes

I made some tiny Valentine's Day "cakes" for my visiting teaching appointments happening around Valentine's Day - to give a twist on a simple treat. These were made of rice krispies, and buttercream frosting.

The Motorcycle Boy Cake

This cake was for an in-law of an old co-worker of mine. She wanted it to have a specific image of a specific motorcycle - so I had her email me the picture, and I hand-painted the image on. This was a white cake, with fresh strawberry filling, buttercream frosting, and fondant.

Rick's Cubs Birthday Cake
Again, we are a family of Chicago Cubs fans - and to celebrate my husband's birthday with something he loves, I made him a Cubs cake - inside and out. This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting.

Madalyn's 2nd Birthday Cake

Earlier in the day, we had another birthday party to attend - and I had another cake I made. This one had to be a fairy princess cake, with lots of flowers and magic. Love it! This was a white cake (colored purple), with buttercream frosting, and royal icing details.

Logan's 3rd Birthday Cake

Logan has a few things he loves, and one of them is Blues Clues. So we threw him a Blues Clues party, and a cake to match. I wanted it to be different than the average paw-print cake, so I made him a blue cake, complete with Thinking Chair. This was a chocolate cake, with peanut butter buttercream frosting and royal icing details. This cake was the most complimented on for the taste. It was delicious! :o)

The Christmas Cake

I will try my hardest to make this every Christmas from here on - my mom made it for Christmas 2007 when we went to visit, and I made it the next year for our family Christmas get-together. It's not the prettiest cake, but it's a quadruple threat - chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, covered in chocolate ganache, and filled with chocolate truffle loaf. I'm drooling.
