Raspberries - Cake and Filling
So I had a wedding cake for the following weekend, and had to prepare by making the filling - which happened to be a lot of raspberries, mushed and cooked into a pie-filling-like-filling. (If that makes sense!)
Of course, while in the kitchen, my son always comes in and asks if I'm making a cake. (He's 3.) Then he asks if he can make a cake. So this time - I made him a cake. This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting. I mixed about 2 tablespoons of smushed raspberries in with the frosting. He loved it!

A Cake Tasting
These cakes were for a cake tasting. The rectangle cake was dark chocolate cake, the round cake was white cake, the crescent cake was milk chocolate. Each cake was filled equally with half raspberry pie filling, half raspberry cream sauce. They were covered with buttercream frosting, and drizzled with the fillings. Mmm! My favorite was the dark chocolate, with raspberry pie filling.

The Surprise Birthday Cake
This family ordered a total of four cakes - two for this past Sunday, and two for today. The husband wanted to order a birthday cake for his wife as a surprise - so I made it! This is a chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting. I hadn't made buttercream roses in a while! Fun times. :o)

The Sunsetty Cake

I just made my family a little cake, and used some leftover colored frosting to frost it. After smoothing it out, it reminded me of a sunset... or a painting.... or something. I had to take a picture. :o)
This was a chocolate/vanilla swirl cake, with buttercream frosting.

Cherie's Surprise 50th Birthday Party Cake

This should have actually been Number Forty-Two, but alas, it was missed. This was a white cake, colored to match the hawaiian luau theme. It was frosted with buttercream frosting, with decorations made of brown sugar, chocolate cookie crumb sprinkles, fondant, and piping gel.

Cherie's 50th Birthday Cake
My husband's aunt was going to be the big 5-0, so I wanted to give her a yummy cake to celebrate. She told me that her family loved it - especially the filling - and they even fought over the last piece! This was a devil's food chocolate cake, with chocolate truffle loaf filling, buttercream frosting, and royal icing decorations.

The Chinese Wedding Cake

This was a sweet story of the bride and groom - who were also very busy! While searching for a "Double Happiness" topper, which is traditional for a Chinese wedding cake, there was a picture of this topper, stuck in a cake that they LOVED. So I duplicated the cake, only in five tiers. This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting and fondant, with royal icing and handpainted details.
