Eleanor's First Birthday Cake (Party)
This was the real birthday cake. It was the same as the baby cake - white cake (colored hot pink), and strawberry cake layers - with buttercream. Topped with fondant, and decorations in various materials.

The Happy Baby Birthday Girl Cupcakes
I made these cupcakes so we would have a little cake tomorrow, on my daughter's official first birthday. We're having her birthday party on Saturday, and I'm making a cake for that too - but she needs to have cake on her birthday birthday! :o)
And that is how the Happy Baby Birthday Girl Cupcakes came to be! These are chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting and sugar sprinkles.

The Impromptu Thank-You Cake
This was a surprise cake for a man who helped get a new business going - so the cake has their giant logo on it! This was a white cake, layered on chocolate cake, filled with buttercream and topped with fondant.

Carin's Baby Shower Cake
This was such a fun cake! I loved the idea of a gift box cake - and with a few tweaks, made the cake match the shower themes and colors in every way. This was a banana cake, filled with layers of bananas and buttercream, and frosted with buttercream and fondant details.

The Cubs/Sox Wedding Cake
This was great! The bride was a HUGE Cubs fan, and the groom - a huge Sox fan. Arrrgh! So, of course, they wanted something to represent that. I really enjoyed working with the couple on this cake. We adjusted it according to the wedding colors, and voila! This was a chocolate cake, with vanilla buttercream, and some royal icing & fondant details.

The Bling Wedding Cake
This was a lot of work - and half of it was just the fondant - but I really enjoyed assembling it on site the most. This was a chocolate/vanilla swirl cake, with buttercream frosting, fondant, and trimmed with silver/rhinestone accents. The (fabulous) topper was provided by the bride-to-be.

The Monogram Cake
This cake was for a couple whose names both start with the letter "J" -- they had jokingly made themselves a monogram ("J2"), which they stamp & emboss various places... so they wanted to incorporate it into their cake.
I think it's really sweet - and turned out absolutely beautiful.
This was an alternating dark chocolate and white cake, with vanilla buttercream, fondant, and buttercream details. It was filled with a rich raspberry pie-like filling. (Adorned with fresh flowers, provided by the bride & groom's florist.)

The DNA Groom's Cake
This was a groom's cake - which I made happily - but now realize I never got the story behind it! I know the bride and groom mentioned they had scientist friends that would enjoy sitting close to this cake. This was a mocha cake, with vanilla buttercream. The DNA was made using chocolate and strawberry pocky, and the groom's favorite - peanut M&Ms.

Raspberries - Cake and Filling
So I had a wedding cake for the following weekend, and had to prepare by making the filling - which happened to be a lot of raspberries, mushed and cooked into a pie-filling-like-filling. (If that makes sense!)
Of course, while in the kitchen, my son always comes in and asks if I'm making a cake. (He's 3.) Then he asks if he can make a cake. So this time - I made him a cake. This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting. I mixed about 2 tablespoons of smushed raspberries in with the frosting. He loved it!

A Cake Tasting
These cakes were for a cake tasting. The rectangle cake was dark chocolate cake, the round cake was white cake, the crescent cake was milk chocolate. Each cake was filled equally with half raspberry pie filling, half raspberry cream sauce. They were covered with buttercream frosting, and drizzled with the fillings. Mmm! My favorite was the dark chocolate, with raspberry pie filling.
