The Second Wrigley Cake

Someone who was at the party where the original Wrigley Field cake was, contacted me and asked me to make a smaller scale version of the same cake for a relative's birthday. Of course!!!! This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting and royal icing details.

Vodka and Chicken Wings

My husband's boss had a birthday coming up, and the guys wanted to surprise him with a cake. With the mood in their office, it had to be humorous - so after some brainstorming, they came up with vodka and chicken wings - (He's Russian) - and so, the vodka and chicken wings cake was born. This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting. (It's all cake, and all buttercream.)

Ryan's Graduation Cake - Wrigley Field

Ryan is my husband's cousin - and there is a long line of Chicago Cub fans there! So he requested a re-creation (in cake) of the legendary Wrigley Field. Oh it was a labor of love. :o) This was a chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting, and royal icing details.

The Second Phlebotomist Cake

When I had shown someone at church the phlebotomist cake I made a few weeks earlier, she was so excited - and immediately asked me if I could make the same cake for her son's birthday. She wanted to deliver it to his office where he worked - as a phlebotomist. No problem. This time I worked harder on making the hand more realistic. It was a huge hit!!! This was a red velvet and chocolate cake, and buttercream frosting with fondant, and gum paste details.

The XBOX360 Cake

It's a small, small world! An old co-worker of mine coincidentally was married to someone my husband went to high school with - so I was more than willing to make his 30th birthday cake too! She wanted it to look like his XBOX360, because he "looooved it sooo much" - so that's what I made! This was a chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting.

Terry's 30th Birthday Cake

My husband's longtime friend was turning 30, and being well-known for his wrestling hobby, we had to give him a cake that matched! The little wrestler man was painted to match an outfit he usually wore in the ring. This was a chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting, fondant, and gum paste details.

The Original Phlebotomist Cake

One of my friends had just graduated from phlebotomy, and wanted to know if I could put together a whimsical cake for her to say thank you to her teachers. After some brainstorming, we came up with the arm. This was a red velvet cake, with buttercream frosting, fondant covering, and gum paste details.

Easter Cake

For Easter, we were gathering as a family at a relative's house, and I brought the cake. It's not a cake I'm too proud of, because I was in my first trimester of pregnancy at the time and was having a bad day - but I refuse to exclude it, because at least I'm showing what I can do at my worst... :o) This was a chocolate cake, with buttercream icing, royal icing decorations, and various easter candies.

Relief Society Birthday Cake

There was a celebration in our ward at church, an activity to celebrate the birthday of the establishment of the Relief Society, back in 1842, and I volunteered to make the cake. This was a german chocolate cake, dark chocolate cake, milk chocolate cake, vanilla cake, and red velvet cake, with buttercream frosting, and royal icing details. The emblem was made entirely out of royal icing.

Rick's 30th Birthday Cake

Rick's 30th birthday cake had to be silly - and represent something he loves - so for the big day I made a hamburger cake, and a hot dog cake. Suprisingly easy! This was a white cake, with buttercream frosting.

Logan's 2nd Birthday Cake

Logan has a huge love of Spongebob, but I didn't like the idea of a cake shaped as Spongebob for his birthday. Instead, I made it a scene, where Spongebob and Patrick were giving him a tiny cake, on his giant cake. He loved it! This was a chocolate cake, with brown sugar "sand", royal icing details, and gum paste figurines.

The Big Worry Wedding Cake
I had a bride contact me about making her wedding cake, and told me a story about how her family had been 'running the show' so far with her wedding, so she wanted her cake to be all her. After discussing her ideas, she was absolutely sure she wanted ivy leaves, fall flowers, hand embroidery detail, a mirrored dance floor, and more. I sketched the design over and over again, worried about how it would all tie together... but in the end, it came out wonderfully. This was a red velvet cake, with buttercream frosting.

Carin's Sister-in-Law's Baby Shower Cake

My friend was putting together her sister-in-law's baby shower, and needed some help coming up with an adorable cake that met her sister-in-law's requirements. She really wanted a black forest cake, but didn't want the traditional look of a black forest cake. Thus, the bucket o' duckies was born. This was a chocolate cake, with cherry pie filling, whipped cream frosting, and rolled cookies.

Keeley & Nate's Anniversary Cake
My closest friend and her husband were celebrating their anniversary, and wanted something to celebrate it without having a lot of leftover cake, so I volunteered to make them their own tiny cake to share. This cake was red velvet cake, with buttercream frosting, fondant, and fondant decorations. Food coloring was used for the 'paint'.

Suzanne's Groom's Cake

My husband's boss wanted a groom's cake especially to match his love for poker. She requested one "hand" to be shown as all Jacks - because that was his nickname. This was a chocolate cake, with buttercream frosting, fondant, and fondant decorations. Food coloring was used to paint every single playing card.

Suzanne's Wedding Cake

Of course, the word got around at my husband's office about the wedding cake I made, and soon his boss was engaged and looking for a baker. She came to me requesting an extremely whimsical cake, with seven layers because they were getting married on 07/07/2007. This was a white cake, as well as rice krispies, with buttercream frosting, fondant, and fondant decorations.

Colleen's Wedding Cake
This was my first wedding cake. My husband's office had a receptionist who worked there that was getting married in a few weeks, and wanted to know if I would make a wedding cake for her. I'd never done it before, but I gave it a go. It was a white cake, with white buttercream frosting and royal icing roses/vines.

Logan's 1st Birthday Cake

This cake was my first. I made a baseball cake for the sports-themed party; one for the baby, and one for everyone else. It was chocolate cake, and a white buttercream frosting.
